It might not look like much, but the person bringing the Sunstone Pipe to physical reality has begun the work of carving the stem.
The wood itself is antique walnut.
To quote the artist, Vincent of Seven Shields Forge … “What excites me about this is the walnut is still roughhewn, so it’s as if the tree was solely crafted for this pipe.”
And then yesterday, he sent an update with images of the wood.
He’s begun planing and milling the antique black walnut for the stem after selecting the exact piece to be used.
“Right now I am carving and shaping the rough form of the stem to be drilled and ready for sanding and mouthpiece fitting!” Vincent said.
Black Walnut symbolizes resilience, strength, protection, wisdom and clarity of vision.
