Twelve years ago, I met a brother whom I did no know at the time was a brother.

Met several brothers as a matter of fact as they were orphans being raised by the Wildlife Center of Virginia with plans to release them all back into the wild when they all came of age.
Meeting them and looking them in the eyes was a moment never to be forgotten.
Their curious nature to be sure, but there was something more.
Little did I realize, I’m now walking the path of the Great Bear.

Caring for 16+ black bears
The staff of the Wildlife Center of Virginia cares for 16+ black bears. Although labor intensive, it’s a task they enjoy … even as they keep their distance to minimize human exposure.
